Why go Vegan?
Veganism is becoming popular in today's society. I myself are vegan and have been for 2 years now. There are many good things to get out of this way of living. Heck, People going vegan is something that is becoming more popular by the day. There are reasons behind why and this paper is going to explain a few of those reasons. Being a vegan is very beneficial to many things in many ways. Let's talk about it!
What is a vegan? Vegans choose to leave a smaller imprint on the earth in many ways. Here’s a quote that explains it well, “ To seek an end to the use of animals by man for food, commodities, work, hunting, vivisection, and by all other uses involving exploitation of animal life by man” ( Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude as far as is possible, ND). In this quotation it’s explaining what vegan’s seek by living this way. Vegans want to help animals and not use them. Vegans in a way put animals before themselves. They want to protect the animals from other humans who wish to exploit them. Vegans see the bigger picture. They look past the “taste” factor. Here is another example that explains why and what vegans do. “Vegans avoid exploiting animals for any purpose, with compassion being a key reason many choose a vegan lifestyle.” (Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude as far as is possible, ND)

Most people who choose to be vegan did it for the animals. Not saying they all did, but it’s a common factor. Some other people choose to go vegan for their own health reasons. These reasons are valid as well. People have their own reasons, the important part is that it’s being done.
What are all the positive things about going vegan? Let's talk about them. How can this benefit your health? “Vegans also tend to eat seven or more pieces or more of fruit and vegetables per day, meaning we have a 33% reduced risk of premature death compared with people who eat less than one portion.” (There are many great and unexpected advantages to a vegan diet, with the chance of increased health being one of them.. ND) This example is showing how consuming more fruit and vegetables daily can so drastically effect your health. Something is small can change something something so big later on. Just adding more fruits and veggies can change your life completely. Here is another way it can benefit a person's health. ”Cardiovascular disease. Eating nuts and whole grains, while eliminating dairy products and meat, will improve your cardiovascular health. A British study indicates that a vegan diet reduces the risk for heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Vegan diets go far in preventing heart attack and stroke.” (57 Health Benefits of Going Vegan. ND) By going vegan it can eliminate a number of diseases. One of them being Cardiovascular Disease. This can effect alot of your health in many ways. Diabetes is even connected to Cardiovascular disease. A lot goes into this.

What is happening to the animals? This is a question nobody wants the answer to. People don’t want the hard truth, they want to eat what they eat and hide from the truth. Well no hiding here, here's the truth. Packed in cages (usually less than half a square foot of floor space per bird),6 hens can become immobilized and die of asphyxiation or dehydration. Decomposing corpses are found in cages with live birds.(Egg-laying hens..ND) The chickens get treated horribly. They spend their whole lives in a little cage. An egg is a chicken period. If you think about it that makes sense. Just like women an unfertilized egg is shed, This is an actual egg for the hens. That’s disgusting. Periods are something that shouldn't be a person's “Healthy breakfast!” . Eggs are packed with cholesterol. Eggs, regardless of what anybody says, are so bad for the human body! They hurt more than help. Look into it, the facts are all there. Another animal treated awful is cows, On the majority of dairy farms, calves are separated from their mothers within 12 hours of birth.43 The males are mainly sold for veal or castrated and raised for beef.(Dairy Cows.. ND) The milk that humans drink from cows is intended for the baby calfs. That milk isn’t good for humans and humans should avoid dairy at all costs. It’s inhuman to rip a child away for their mother so young. The baby boy's automatically get sold as meat. The girls get raped to be milk cows just like their mothers. It's an awful cycle and it needs to stop. It’s an awful and unfair process.
What is happening to the planet? Well let's find out.. “One of the largest environmental concerns associated with slaughterhouses is wastewater and water contamination. The United States alone has 32 slaughterhouses responsible for
Daniel 4
dumping 55 million pounds of pollutants into the waterways … annually” (Beyond the Factory Farm, Sara Farr). Obviously everything living needs water, plants need it, we need it, and if meat is in a person's diet, Their food needs it! Animals consume a lot of water. If the food being ‘raised’ is drinking all the water thats a problem. When a person stops eating meat the demand for it goes down. Meaningless animals being raised for food and less water the animals consume. No human should be going thirsty. Giving the water to the animals is hurting other people in the poor countries. In this situation the animals are being prioritised over humans dying of thirst and that’s not okay.” Slaughterhouses are also responsible for large outputs of greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide, both major contributors to climate change. These gases are created both in the process of slaughter and by the degradation of wastewater” (Beyond the Factory Farm, Sara Farr). Humans are pouring way too much energy into running these factories. That energy could be used better somewhere else. Not only that but the gases being released from the slaughter houses are kling the ecosystem. The effect the gases are having on this planet is breathtaking. Global warming is a real thing and it’s happening right now. Slaughterhouses releasing all these gases is certainly not helping the problem over here.
Being a vegan can be fun and flexible! Let's look deeper into it! “If you’ve spent any time browsing Pinterest over the past month, you’ve probably come across mummy dogs—the latest fad in Halloween eats. What you may not have realized is just how easy these are to veganize! Here’s how.” (Vegan, ND) Anything you see or find can be

changed a bit to become vegan. If taste is something a person is worried about when going vegan, there's no reason to worry about it! Now and days every and any meat has been changed and made to be vegan! They have vegan hot dogs just like in this mummy recipe talked about. Saying “I can’t go vegan because I love the taste of meat too much.” Is no longer a legit reason to not go vegan, if it ever was to begin with. Anything not vegan can and will be made vegan. Another example of this is, “Wings are for flying, not frying! So next time you’re craving buffalo wings, opt for these healthy, gluten-free cauliflower wings. This recipe was ingeniously developed by Alex Thomopoulos. Head over to her blog for the full recipe and procedure” (Alex Thomopoulos, July 21 2014). Even if the fake meats is something that sounds gross to a person, there are still healthy alternatives. Just like this Cauliflower wings. There are always options and ways to change the food. This a a good option for somebody who wants a healthy option. They taste good and are much better for a person's health! Yes everything does have it’s pros and cons, but finding tasty things to eat while being vegan isn’t a problem!
In conclusion, There are many benefits to eating and living vegan. Benefits for the person, the environment, the animals, and many more things. All around living this way is beneficial all around. Like it's was said before, Being a vegan is very beneficial to many things in many ways. It's good for the health of the person, as well as the health of the environment. The animals get treated horbaly. If most people stopped consuming

the animal products there would be no reason to hurt the animals. Your dollar is your vote. Remember to always vote with purpose.
